Ya he started 13th floor elevators when he was locked up in the institution the guitar player he jammed with was there for killing his family according to the documentary on Netflix its a good one check it out also check Daniel Johnston also from Austin n almost the exact same story except Daniel was manic depressive not skitzo

That would be Steven Morgan Burgess on bass; a helluva nice guy, and the ONLY bass guitarist I have ever seen break a string... :-) And on drums, that might be Fuzzy Furioso rather than Jeff Sutton; one can't tell from the credits on the original release... Seeing these folks live was quite an experience; for one, the atmospherics contributed by Billy Angel (nee Miller) on electric autoharp (played with a knife!) should not be underestimated... it's clear here, but sounds a bit like a guitar!
