I did not know about this album, but I recognised Richard Thompson's voice immediately. Great version of "Mingulay" but the McCalmans version is, for me, the best. The song is about fisherman coming home, seeing land in the distance, their loved ones waiting at the jetty; it's a joyous homecoming song, yet often sung as a dirge, which it definitely is not- no-one dies! Sir Hugh Roberton, who wrote the song, also wrote Westering Home, another homecoming classic, yet not as popular in the folk world at the moment. Love. Pete.

One of the most stirring songs I've heard. Fantastic singing and exceptional guitar playing. Thanks for posting. I'll be back.))

This is so very beautiful. A touching longing for the home I so dearly miss. My home is where my heart is. I love and miss you V!
