Another one of Rod "The Mod's" finest performances--live or otherwise. Full disclosure, I'm way too young to have seen those classic live performances, but, the evidence speaks for itself. Great job, Sir Rod

For those who only know Rod as a ridiculous pop caricature: this is what he is capable of. Awesome.

1975 - Rod Stewart and the Faces play their final show together. The group's breakup was due to Stewart wanting to further his success with his solo career.

Correction: the strings were already in by 1974 -- they're featured in the Kilburn december '74 show that's on youtube. But Jesse Ed was probably brought in later.

According to Ian McLagan, Rod Stewart brought in Jesse Ed Davis AND a string section on the very last tour. Davis wasn't to replace Woody, but Mac wrote that Rod had doubts about Ronnie after playing alongside Keith Richards in the Stones. (Woody played on the Stones Tour of the Americas in the summer of '75 before the Faces last tour). So, as close2zen says, this video is probably not from the last tour, since there's no Jesse Ed Davis there. The strings were only used on a few songs (and Mac liked to sabotage them a little as well, by encouraging the string players to unclip their microphones.

One could argue Rod Stewart was a officially a superstar when Maggie May went #1 on both sides of the pond in October of 71'.

It's a shame that Faces never stayed together but Rod was just destined for superstardom & everyone knew it... He had the voice & ended up being one of the best if not THE best rock singer in the business... I think there is just one guy that is just as good & that is Paul Rodgers....

Rod...you are the MAN. Jagger was a jerk to steal bestie Ronnie from The Faces. Who knows how far The Faces would have gone with their incredible talent. It all turned out well for Rod and Ronnie but still think of the magic music that could have been had The Races stayed together.

I saw them at the Forum March 5th 1975....fabulous. Faces were at the top of their game and me being just shy of 17...wow. One of the most memorable shows I've ever been to.
