I read the lyrics and watched the video. I still do not know what it is about. I thought it might be about a bill collector or a drug addict or an assault victim, but nothing quite fits. The video doesn't help. Maybe she is a celebrity having a meltdown?

He didn't so much refuse it as it was a casualty of "Wildflowers" being shrunk down from a double CD to a single. "Wildflowers" was to be TP's first album for WB and it's been alleged they wanted a single cd release instead of a double. So around eight or nine songs didn't make the cut. "Leave Virginia Alone" was one of them and was offered to Rod Stewart instead.
