ROD STEWART - "Italian Girls" (Rod Stewart / Ron Wood)

I've got two and more to show

I was dreaming of a mobile

that couldn't be mine not without lyin'

Was I feeling kind a silly

when I stepped in soakin' beer down the cola machine

Oh, stayin' seventeen

Well she claimed she was a killer

and she owned a flood lit villa

a little aways from the main highway

Oh take me way down yonder

She was tall, thin and tarty

and she drove a Maserati

faster than sound

I was heaven bound

Although I must have looked a creep

in my army surplus jeep

Was I being too bold

before the night could get old

No, no, no, no

She proved me so wrong

Oh the Italian girls sometimes hold their religious habits

in front of your eyes, just to get you tied

Ah but not my little Bella 'cause I did not have to tell her

I'd rather you go with the morning sun, she made me so tired

She took me way, way, away down yonder

till I was gone with the morning sun on my back

Gotta get on back there soon as I can

Take me there

And I miss the girl so bad

She broke my heart

Gotta get on back there soon as I can

I miss the girl, I miss the girl, I miss the girl so bad

I was a lot better off

I've always thought her description went:: She was tall thin and snotty And she drove a Maseratiwhich I thought was a great rhyme and captured a rich bitch perfectly.Disappointed that the actual lyric is nowhere near as good as what I've been hearing all these years.

this song was about my sister, the line is,"she out me shirt on", not she proved me so wrong. It was about a party thrown after the show in Akron Ohio in 71 or 72.

...."when up stepped this unkempt filly on the Cola machine, oh and sayin' something. ALSO: "she was tall, thin and TOTTY...."totty" is a British slang word for a girl who is attractive, or a sex object

Besides the amazing vocals -(cause man they cut diamonds) what a gift for lyric writing and breaking the phrasing to fill the meter. Some of the best lirys in R&R have been written by Rod. I still debate if "Every picture tells a story" or "Sympathy for the devil" are the best lyrics in rock. "Shanghai Lil , never took the pill " masterful.

Thank You @rpethers! Having Welsh heritage myself, although an American, I too am certain it is 'Caerphilly.' Hope we are proven right someday.

Italian girls are - how shall I put it? - full-blooded. Good little number, this.

"I was feeling kind of silly when I stepped in some Caerphilly by the cola machine." Caerphilly is a type of soft cheese named after a place in Wales in the U.K. Still might not make lot of sense, but I know these are the correct words.

well I dont know if I got them all right myself, but I had this album when it was new and I was a kid a million years ago, and I used to sing along (badly) with this song endlessly... I'm just glad people post this stuff where everybody can hear it. Rave on, cats I'm with ya!
