Yo, why click on the music just to rag the nigga? Ain't no race better than the other, we're all clowns! Most shit around us descended from African culture! Motherfuckers with small brains can't accept that because we want to be first when in reality we're all behind! Suck it up!

I respect Mos, we as people are blinded in our 3rd eye, because we desire to be first...

Yo I like Mos Def and everything, and don't mind the pro-black lyrics at all because I think he's a great artist. But this is one song where I'm just like alright dude let's simmer down a bit shall we?

What I find very funny about all the comments for this video is all the "white" people (I'm white too btw) who are standing up in defence of "white music." It's all right, dudes, it doesn't need you to defend it, it's doing just fine, mostly free of any prejudice.

Typical black attitude. Everything is a rip off of their culture. There's no such thing as individuality.

Really don't like this message. The Rolling Stones did better job then most black artists ever, especially on lyrics. And I listen to a lot of music, it contains about 70% of what you say "black music" being white european. But yeah, we can't think like that. White people invented microphones and studio gear, made guitars: without them there wouldn't be any music recorded. And let's not forget about this whole industly was invented by europeans. My grand-grand... relatives were white slaves in the Russian Empire, you should know there were white slaves too. Black people should get over it already. How can people from our planet look up to the "land of the democracy" USA with the black president Barack Obama and see there is still racial war going on?? I can't understand why people are proud of their ethnicity because you just happen to be born black/white/whatever. It is not your goal.

Mos Def can say whatever he wants about Elvis. But he better leave Korn out of it.

Hmm, well I'm not sure if Mos Def is only attempting to call out the artists he named, or white musicians in general. Rock n roll music was a mixture of blues, gospel, and country-western. Country-western evolved from European folk music, so rock n roll is at least partially based on white music. Same goes for jazz - jazz used many scales and chords that originated in European music. So all these black people complaining about how blacks came up with these musical styles totally free from white influence - you're wrong.

This is funny, it's happening right now in 2014 as well. They fucked up dub-reggae and called it "dub-step" and now they're coming for trap music as well.

oh look...white people are offended..shocker! this isn't directed at ALL white people, in the lyrics he names specific white artists and yeah, it may sound SLIGHTLY offensive but how about you all suck it up for fuck's sake. i love how white people especially americans love to claim that they're being prejudiced against for their skin colour its fucking ridiculous. you all need to grow the fuck up and stop being so self-absorbed.

This song isn't racist at all... Sure it's a little bit judgemental but he has the right to say this. Rock N roll music originated as black culture. It is sad that has been forgotten by some people. With that being said it doesn't mean whites shouldn't be allowed to do rock and hip hop music. But they needs to learn the history of their music. Understand what it is coming from and paying homage. I am a white male myself and I say this. I think it is funny how some of the commentators get really butthurt over this. He didn't really say anything that bad. I have heard way worse songs than this. Sure it can be debatable if Elvis could be the king of rock. I can recognize his talent, but to me he wasn't all that great. Just like Eminem is in hip hop he is overrated because of his skin color. Not saying being white automatically makes you a worse rapper. Because it obviously doesn't. On the other hand it doesn't make you a better one either. There is a lot of talented white rappers in the underground. Thing is tho with Eminem that the majority of consumers in music in general is white. So he definitely had an advantage by being a famous white mainstream rapper. Since a lot of the people who never even cared for hip hop before just bought his records because he was white. Which is wrong but it's how it works. Unfortunately hip hop will just like rock music probably turn out to be dominantly white music in the future. I'm not saying there should be less white rap artists. I'm just saying it should be equal to black rappers. I see a lot of white kids get mad at rappers like Mos Def, Jord Lamar, Scarface, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez etc... Without actually understanding the message that they're saying.

Really like Mos Def but this song is just flat out racist. Nina Simones biggest hit was written by white people. His music has sampled white people repeatedly. Infact two songs after this one the tracklist he copies the red hot chilli peppers. Music has no beginning, black or white.
