You can like best whichever version you want but Robert still did it first and just him and a guitar.

Robert Pete Williams is not so well known, even among blues fans. But I always thought he was among the very best. This song was covered by both Captain Beefheart and the Black Keys.

First heard this in the sixties long before I'd ever heard of Captain Beefheart.

This is a treasure! Thank you to Capt. Beefheart & The Black Keys for this. All 3 versions are each amazing, but this guy FELT every word he sang, hoping you all understand his conditions at that time. I could not understand those "conditions" as Howlin' Wolf said it. I do understand evil. Thats a badass song btw by Mr. Wolf & The Black Keys too.. "Evil".

agreed…i hear more of BK riff in the williams version but Dan totally rocked Beefheart's arrangement…i prefer BK's bridge section…BK's energy really brings it for me

@jamesdrogers Actually, this song was brought to the attention of the Captain and the rest of the band by Ry Cooder, whose arrangement of the song you hear on the album. None of the other band members had heard it before. Beefheart's vocal style was certainly an amalgamation of the blues singers he grew up listening to but I think it unlikely that Robert Pete Williams was one of them.

Rebbeca Black basicly copied this song. She just lip syncd about doing things throughout her day... Wait why do I know who she is? Ohh god......
