Superb, thought provoking, not sure what the alternative to conflict is though. Sadly I'm not sure there will be one for a few years to come.

The version he does of this song live at Montreux is actually better. A little bit slower, a little more feeling (for me anyway). I actually discovered that version first. The song is so well written that the story telling doesn't require a video to get the message across.

well said......... take it from one that has "been there and done that" even if it was 46 years ago (Vietnam)

as a former neo con, I loved Robert Cray's music, but hated this song. When I woke up by getting educated by reading guys like Ron Paul, Murry Rothbard, and Lew Rockwell things changed. One day I was listening to some other Robert Cray songs and suddenly remembered this song that I had previously hated. I did a google search for this video and watched it and cried like a baby, spot on Robert, war is no friend to freedom. Thoughts and prayers go out to all who have lost loved ones due to this government sponsored war, whether they be American or from the Middle East.

The master of the guitar and voice has stepped out and made a statement, a statement that is obvious to some and ignored by many. I liked the video as well.Creedance Clear Water Revival made the 'Fortunate Song' song in 1968 to protest the biased draft system. This was in the top 10 on the Billboards (so say wiki).Unfortunately, today the song by Bob Cray 'Twenty' is missed by most.
