Henry Thies & His Hotel Sinton Orchestra, Vocal refrain by Don Dewey - When You're Smiling, Fox Trot (Fisher -- Goodwin -- Shay) Victor 1928 (USA)

NOTE: Henry Thies was a dance band conductor, who was very popular in Midwest in 1920/30s. His orchestra was contracted at the Sinton Hotel in Cincinatti, Ohio. It was also promoted on air by WLW Radio in Cincinnati. Unfortunately, that excellent band is almost completely forgotten today.

Some million-dollar smiles to go with this peppy side -- and, boy, could I use a smile or two today. ... Ah, Coop -- the most inviting smile of all!

Hello Grzegorz - this warm, lovely piece - is much appreciated in icy, windy Saint Patrick day in Chicago. Last year - during the Saint Patrick day parade everybody was sweltering in the 85 Farenheit - heat. I found out that the famous nickname for Chicago - Windy City - originally came from the long winded Chicago politicians who never wanted to "clam up" - as if anybody was listening to their long winded speeches. Have a great week! The photos of the stars - super - Smosarska was a great diva!

It's a grinning song for rather gloomy wint'ry days. The spring does not feel like coming. Is she offended, or what?

Hi My Dear, Yes I agree, I also couldn't believe my eyes: The "cherry flavoured toothpaste"! One can hardly believe anything like that could've ever been produced by anyone! Bodo's smiling face - before using that paste - is confronted with the sad one, probably after having tried it.

I'm smiling like crazy as I sit here, but don't see anyone else smiling when I peek out the window. Thanks for this jolly old song and the many delightful pix. But even for you I would not use cherry-flavored toothpaste. Prefer my cherries in bloom, which will be quite late this year in the DC area.
