Tootsie, bet you are in trouble. We all miss Mac. Lambda Chi Lawn Dance to start the year at IU!! Great guys and along with Faith Band, we were very lucky in Indy. Of course Johnny C and Tob went on to make up a great band that carried J Cougar..

Some of the band members of Roadmaster, including the lead singer, have been deceased.

I had a couple of t-shirts from Little 500- One said Delta Chi and The Pure Funk Band in '76, and the by '77 it was Delta Chi and ROADMASTER. I think there was confict with another band of the same name, and so Roadmaster took their name from the AMF Roadmaster Little 5 bicycles- They were the most sought after band in Bloomington at the time, so it was quite a thing for our tiny little house to get them.

Roadmaster, previously known as The Pure Funk band played several times at our Little 500 parties at Delta Chi in the mid-70's. As we usually won, they were rocous affairs indeed. Asher Ben Rubi was a campus character from Shortridge, who later became Adam Smasher and a DJ at WNAP and WFBQ. It was too bad that when he switched stations some contractual obligations kept him off the aoir for quite a time, and he seemed to lose a lot of momentum and fan base.

Rick, and also either Bobby (or was it Toby, now I'm second guessing myself) played with Mitch Ryder when he made a comeback and had somewhat of a hit in the mid 80's.

These guys were Indy north siders! I was a teenager in the 70's and saw them in concert several times opening for bands like Aerosmith and Journey. The guys used to come through the service station I worked at at the time and were cool dudes. Roadmaster bassist Toby Myers went on to play with John Mellencamp and was featured on several of his albums from the 80's and 90's. Guitarist Rick Bennick played with Henry Lee Summer for a spell, too.
