I had read somewhere that when Ritchie sang one of his songs that he very rarely sang them the same twice which is probably why this sounds nothing like the record version of C’mon Let’s Go. I have noticed this on a few of his other live recordings on different songs that he sang totally different lyrics than what’s on the record versions as well.

Robert Hunter the reclusive former lyricist of the Grateful Dead once played the role of Ritchie Valens. The name, The Grateful Dead, is appropriate. They faked their deaths and became grateful to get out of their record contracts. They also made everyone very rich in the process. When word got out to the public that Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens allegedly died in a plane crash in Clear Lake, Iowa, their records literally flew off the shelves, and they became immortalized through the legend crafting process... These staged performances go on quite a bit, especially when older rock stars become unproductive and want out of their public circus cages, they'll hire a PR firm, kill off their old personas by faking a death, as they regain a sense of normalcy and balance within the relative anonymity of the private sector. Robert wrote his most famous song called "Ripple," here's a famous line in the song. "Can you hear my voice come through the music?" Yes, Ritchie, I not only heard your voice but also recognized your facial features, your guitars and guitar playing style. Ironically, bot Ritchie and the character he's now playing Robert Hunter, were born in 1941, 41 days apart, in southern California... They sure know how to fake them, don't they?

This is the demo with live effects added to it. I assume the song wasn't recorded at the time; I think an audience member captured it. We were really lucky to get that encore of La Bamba. Quite a gem, as live albums were unheard of at the time.
