Charted at #26 on Billboard Hot 100 in 1964. This was Rita's only entry on the US Hot 100, but this Italian singer had many hits internationally and acheived superstar status. Written by Shelly Coburn. B-side is "Just Once More" which I've also posted.

I believe Danny Thomas discovered her in Italy and had her make an appearance on his sitcom. She learned English lyrics phonetically, since she didn't speak the language. Does anyone know what she's doing today? By the way, the other singer mentioned in comments is Timi Yuro, not Timo. She was a little girl with a huge voice, and was very popular here in South Florida on WQAM and WFUN.

I've been looking for this song for years - and the reason I couldn't find it was because I was convinced it had been recorded by Timi Yuro. Thanks for solving one of life's big mysteries for me!

Not as good as her version of "Heart" in 1963. But no doubt, Rita should have been a star in the United States. Just as we missed out on Helen Shapiro we missed another great one in Rita Pavone.

She could have broken out into the US and Canada, the voice was powerful but a combination of under produced songs and a somewhat difficult grasp of english kept her out of the main media of the time. Even singing on Ed Sullivan was not a guarantee of fame in a time when big hits lasted between two and three weeks.

I bought her single "Il Ballo Del Mattone (The Dance of The Bricks) when I was in Rome in 1963. The flip side "Cuore" (Heart) I like better. I never heard her sing in English. Thanks for sending it up.

I thought "Just Once More" rocked more and didn't understand why this more AOR (not that that was in vocab back then) tune was listed as the A-side. I like it better now. I also had a thing for her tune "Big Deal" on the first American album.

Kind of an Italian Timo Yuro with her force and energy. As a teenager in Ohio wore out the old RCA 45. Thanks for posting, I've watched for this one a couple years!
