I was there! And it was amazing! They played two nights and I was lucky enough to be there for that night front row. :)

I would have gave anything to get to this concert.. Too bad I was 14 and didn't know much about Rise Against at the time.

Tim is NOT atheist. He said at the interview from 2001, Quoting: " I write most of the lyrics. Me, I believe in God. I totally do. But I’m always sick of the way they think—the way the majority of the world thinks. You have to constantly second-guess people who go to church every Sunday and if they believe or not. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory, though. People have really warped things."

Actually, Tim McIlrath is agnostic. Close to atheism, but not quite.

The part about the hypothetical questions is true, however he is agnostic, he has verified this multiple times.

Yeah, but I bet he doesn't go through cymbals or drumheads like a chain smoker goes through cigarettes. Better to hit correctly than to just hit hard.

He's Unitarian which is a form of Christianity.

Project Twenty-Nine Music

guess he is better than you, he just can play without smashin hard on the drums, that is good, somebody who can not play like this is not a good drummer

I don't care what spiritual orientation those guys have, I myself am an atheist. But just because 'God' is mentioned in a song, it doesn't mean that the artist believes or doesn't believe in God. The actual context in Drones is that, the God figure is a metaphor for money. Drones is about people submitting to the 9 to 5 machine labor - making just enough money to 'live'. "They're WORKING over time... Disciples of a God, that neither lives nor breaths, but we have BILLS to pay".

I don't believe that those lyrics are literally referring to the christian god...

Tim is agnostic. I met him at Edgefest in Toronto and brought it up. He verified that he in fact IS agnostic. I however, am atheist.
