July 7th. GUEST APPEARANCE.

"Rocky Mountain Way" is a 1973 song by rock guitarist Joe Walsh and his band Barnstorm, with writing credits given to Rocke Grace, Kenny Passarelli, Joe Vitale, and Joe Walsh. The song was originally released on the album The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get. It bears many similarities to a track by Sly & The Family Stone called "Sex Machine", from their 1969 album Stand!, including several vocal and instrumental motifs (as well as being in the same key), the use of a processed vocal (accomplished mainly via an effect named the talk box, but possibly backed with mouth organ, synthesizer and a harmonium), and the overall feel (and 6/8 meter) of the song, with 2 guitars playing the solo. The song was used to title the 1985 compilation album Rocky Mountain Way which features previously unreleased singles and alternatives tracks from So What to Got Any Gum?.

I love Lukather's reaction throughout and Ringo's final comment at the very end. How do you top that!

@Jeff Hadeland, nope, I play guitar, bass & keyboards, but you obviously don't know the impact the Beatles contributed to popular music, never said Ringo was Neil Peart, but Ringo is apart of the blueprint in popular music, so go home & learn your music history:)

People are very picky Ringo does a fair job here you must remember Greg Bissonett could make most drummers look ordinary.

Scott Reid, bro, even John Lennon when asked if Ringo Starr was a great drummer he replied ' he's not even the best drummer in the Beatles' He lets this entire performance down and its a personal thought but i think he lacks improvisational skills, is wooden, lacking feel and groove. The only reason he gets away with it is because he was in the Beatles which demands some respect but he is still in my opinion and many others a below average drummer, even in his era he was, when compared to most of the drummers in that time. Yes he played on some iconic tunes but that doesnt hold much sway with me. We'll have to agree to disagree on this!

The BEATLES wouldn't be without John, George, Paul OR Ringo, and Thousands of shleps would be relegated to minimum wage employment if these four didn't do what they did. Like Lennon said, " Pete Best was a better drummer, but, Ringo was a better Beatle." Put Neil Peart or Terry Bozzio in the Beatles drum throne and it would have been absolute GARBAGE. John Bohnam drumming for the Stones? Keith Moon with AC/DC? Charlie Watts with Frank Zappa?Beg, Borrow, or steal some form of life some of you. Simplicity is what's needed in some cases. Bombast and technique in others...deal with it.

That performance was sweet as apart from having to watch Ringo's effort, it made me cringe, especially when he came in way too early at the end! i've gotta agree with the people that are saying Ringo is a below average drummer, even more so in this day and age.He has bags of charisma but man its embarassing watching that drumming, he is beyond stiif and looks like he has no feel or groove left. This is coming from a huge Beatles fan too. Gotta admit that some of the drumming on Beatles records is great but only some and this performance does make me wonder how after 40 years or however long he's been playing he can still be so wooden.I'm only a semi professional gigging drummer so no where near the league of most pro's but what i saw just then made me think how much better i could play that with little or no practice!Kinda makes me sad, i hope for his sake it was the booze and weeds fault! (not that he gives a shit cos he's loaded, famous and able to get to play with legends!)I wonder if back stage they all took the royal piss out of Ringo!? I like to think they all gave him a nipple cripple and dead arms for that shite performance!! hahaha!
