both are very well made pieces of art. the author directed the movie, so you can make the case that most of his vision was put into the film. Obviously everything from the book cannot be put into the movie. There are minor tweaks in the movie from the book, but i can almost guarantee that that was done for continuity sake of the movie. Novels and screenplays are very different and difficult forms of art. The movie is different, yet it is still a very original piece of enjoyable work.
