Playing lead guitar at that speed with the kind of accuracy and clarity that Bryan Sutton does is amazing but playing bluegrass *rhythm* guitar at this speed is even more nuts. Watch his right hand when he's playing rhythm. What. The. Hell.

The music is great, but the singing just doesn't sound right. It sounds like Ricky is trying to imitate Bill Monroe, but still try to sound like something else, and it just doesn't sound right.

I remember my first encounter with bluegrass,I was a child watching the Andy Griffith show and the Darling family did a song,oh my I was blown away,I was in love with this roots music for the rest of my life! I didn't know until later on that the Darling boys were an actual bluegrass band named The Dillards. Thanks to Andy and may he rest in peace!

To me his music just doesn't sound like music. Instead it sounds like a bunch of notes just thrown together to sound something remotely like a song. But that is just my opinion....

The class of Bluegrass!

Sure, the Flecktones don't play a lot of pure bluegrass. But Bela jams with bluegrass artists a lot and used to be in a band called New Grass Revival. And I don't see why you have to be strictly a bluegrass player to be one of the greats, banjo wasn't originally created for bluegrass anyway

Not in my book.....He's good but he never plays bluegrass at any of his concerts.

Bela Fleck is definitely up there

looks like he's playing this in A rather than the traditional G, can anyone confirm?

@prescomp That is Jim Williams, one of the greatest banjo players to ever live next to Earl Scruggs, Steve Martin, and maybe a couple others.

@altstrasse That's not Kilby actually, that's Bryan Sutton who plays the guitar solo.
