The only connection between Skaggs and Gill that I am aware of is that Vince played bass for Ricky for 6 months in Boone Creek back when he was a teenager -- Skaggs's last bluegrass band before going country. Gill said that Skaggs and Jerry Douglas (the other band leader) sent him home because they didnt have any more gigs scheduled, and that was the best thing that could have happened, since his subsequent path took him, well, where it took him. They both also played for EmmyLou Harris, but not at the same time. If you want to check out Vince playing bluegrass bass, you can catch it on one of the Bluegrass Celebration TV special youtube videos. "Daniel Prayed" maybe.

I was in London for this show at the Dominion in London's West End - a mega performance for Skaggs debut in London. In the same year George Strait also appeared in London and as we know Strait has a hot band, but Skaggs outfit with their blinding talent blew the Ace in the Hole Band out . . . saw Ricky Skaggs tonight 17 May 2013 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and he really is still outstanding along with The Whites (incl wife Sharon & father in law Buck White). They stole the show . . .

the reason ricky skaggs probably doesn't play the telecaster anymore has to be arthritis or something because his feel on one is that of vince gills

Ricky, I wish you would start back playing the tele in you live shows. You never do anymore. Everyone does not only want to see you playing the manolin and Flat top guitar. Not trying to be too neg. I just miss your tele sound live. Hope you read this. THANKS!
