Ricky Nelson - Travelin' Man 1961

Lyrics:

I'm a travelin' man

and I've made a lotta stops

all over the world

And in every port

I own the heart of at least one lovely girl

I've a pretty senorita

waitin' for me down in old Mexico

And if you're ever in Alaska

stop and see my cute little Eskimo

Oh my sweet fräulien

down in Berlin town

makes my heart start to yearn

And my China doll

down in old Hong Kong

waits for my return

Pretty Polynesian baby over the sea

I remember the night

When we walked in the sands of Waikiki

and I held you oh so tight

Oh, I'm a travelin' man

Yes, I'm a travelin' man

Yes, I'm a travelin' man

Woe, I'm a travelin' man

This song, and several of his others, were on every jukebox all across the country in the early sixties, and for quite some time afterwards. Many of my nickels, dimes, and quarters were spent in these "sound" investments.

One of my top favorites by Ricky. Good song that captured 1961 so well. Moon River was from the same year. It was a very good year.

As a Hong Konger, I feel so surprised when knowing there's an old song has "Hong Kong" written in the lyric :)

I saw Ricky At Padre Field in San Diego, CA. in 1961 (I was 13) ... haven't been the same since !! Always loved him, still do. When he died, I felt like I lost my true love.. It was heartbreaking.
