I am sixty one. I am a musician and have revisited Rick Nelson....I realized that this is the man who taught me how to sing, every week on TV when I was little. There is no better vocal coach by example: velvet tone, stylistic, could sing anything. No opera, it's about the song and the lyrics, Rick never got in the way of the song. Beautiful voice. held back and when he hit the high note it meant something, was a surprise, meant so much more than today's opera shrieking all the damn time. Critics of today will scoff at this, they can go to hell as far as I am concerned...I was a music teacher and have some merit here.

Rick Nelson , never sang doo wop it first of all requires a vocal group.The Righteous Brothers singing Unchained Melody is just a ballad Vito and The Salutations singing Unchained Melody with it's doo wop sounds such as bo bo bo bo bo bo ba doom oom oom om definately doo wop, You actually don't know what doo wop is now do you!Everything you heard as a teen can't be doo wop sorry Doo Wop is a very particular form of vocal group styling .,and not everything a vocal group sings is doo wop either Where or When by Dion and The Belmonts ,virtually the same as it done by The Lettermen, not doo wop just an old ballad from a 1938 Broadway musical, sung much the way it was originally, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by The Platters again just an old ballad done to a basic vocal group arrangement no different then The Brothers Four might have done it or The Aimes Brothers a vocal group merely doing oohs and ahs for a background is not doo wop either!!.Teen and doo bwop are not synonymous doo wop is not synonymous with rock and roll it is a particular kind of vocal group singing.
