i gotta' say that R.J. was one of the FIRST artists that i got into as a kid! The Stone City Band...WOW...These are a GREAT bunch of funk musicians, who also can play jazz. Not many are aware that Rick himself was a poet who wrote beautiful, ironic, even prophetic verses. All people seem to remember is all the bad behavior and the "freaky" songs. His early albums included songs like Mr. "Policeman" and "Love In The Night."  And, from his 1978 album "Come Get It", the song "Dream Maker" ... BEAUTIFUL poetic intro! None of these so-called R&B stars of today seem to know how to do it like Rick did it. B Taylor, thanks for this post.R.I.P. Rick. --- Your MUSIC lives on!
