Randy Jo Hobbs had a HUGE impact on my early Bass playing. As a teen I was VERY much influenced by the Johnny Winter And Live album. Having Rick Derringer, Bobby Caldwell and Randy Jo as the rhythm section was as good as you could get! I got to see Randy play live on the Still Alive & Well tour and was blown away when Randy played chords when Johnny soloed. Thank you for teaching me how to Rock! Almost 45 years later, I'm still playing some of your licks. R.I.P.

I saw Randy Jo Hobbs twice with Johnny Winter and once was the Johnny Winter "Still Alive And Well" Tour at the Boston Music Hall. This show featured guest appearances by both Rick Derringer and Ronnie Montrose!I am a bassist myself and Hobbs was a huge and I mean huge influence on my playing and also concept of the instrument.

"...Now is the  time to stop".... I went way way down that road; and I finally came to the realization: If you don't stop now and turn around, and haulass BACK, NOW!, you may not ever come back from this road; OR just as bad, you may come back so damaged you'll wished you'd would have died on the way down this hellroad. .Fortunately I made it out alive. I just work quietly in my metalworking hobbies down in my basement and the wife and I keep to ourselves, but are pleasant with everyone as best we can. Peace out everyone.

It is Rick's place, not anyone else's, to give credit to whomever/whatever he feels was the reason/cause/inspiration for him stopping.  Atheists seem awfully eager to be offended by someone crediting anything in THEIR personal life and are just as guilty as proselytizing non-faith at every opportunity, and most often in a combative and escalating manner.  I think fear of being judged or held accountable for their morality is the root issue, but I'm no expert, it's just what I've noticed.People of faith are not obligated to answer your questions to your satisfaction. How about you just leave people alone to live how they want?

When you know there is a GOD and Son and Holy Ghost you don't care what others say of you or what they think! It's at that point you know your life has a meaning and so do others and it is so great to see Rick found him also. GOD gave you the right to believe or not and if you wanted chocolate or vanilla, one scoop or two. But you had better be ready to eat what you have put on you plate because that's one thing you'll never be able to hand off to someone else! Rock on Rick.

Best live rock show I ever saw - Rick Derringer and the McCoys backing Johnny Winter at Mammoth Gardens in Denver, summer of 1968.

I think addicts need a higher power because they screwed themselves up so bad, they need faith to hang onto. Even if it's a vice, it's better than death. I met Rick in '97, and he was just the the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. Jesus was cool, He just said "Love your brother as you love yourself" organized religion starts the wars throughout history. Jesus most likely talked of peace, and look where that got him. The first hippie.

Thanks so much LLM. These are not only very enjoyable, they are very educating. Of course being subjective is the only realistic way to be in music, so if the subject goes a certain way lets hear it as is. I remember seeing Rick from the 70's in Maple Leaf Gardens into the 80's in Calagry with Edgar so it is like visiting an old friend to hear him on your show. I think it is important to have these wonderful musicians recall things for us in order to bring forth some history & preserve it.

Hank Marvin is another guitarist that has started to behave like this. He's a Jehovah's Witness (whose magazine I can never take seriously as all the "Middle Eastern" people in the pictures look like Vikings.

I saw Rick Derringer in a guest appearance 1973-74 with Johnny Winter, and the late Randy Jo Hobbs and Richard Hughes on drums. Rick was a guest star and Ronnie Montrose was also a guest star. One of the greatest live shows I ever saw. It was the "Still Alive And Well" tour. God Bless you Rick if you are reading this, you still have many fans and well wishers. Bill
