Richie's version of this song is much better than Steve Morse or Ian Gillian's of Deep Purple. I think Jon Bon Jovi might have a little more range, but he is no match for Richie in terms of raw emotion. This guy is one of the most under-rated  singer/songwriter/musicians of the last 25 years. I honestly think I would rather listen to him than Jon any day. Some of these songs are from his first two solo albums before he even met Jon and Seven Years Gone is his new album after Bon Jovi. By the way, Richie didn't leave the band, Jon basically pushed him out. Bon Jovi's album sales were starting to drop and Jon got more interested in his status and the band's fame and lost track of the music. Remember, Jon was the front man, but if you go back and look at the writing credits on ALL their songs, Richie co-wrote 95% of them. You can make a strong argument that without Richie, there would never have been a Bon Jovi. I really do hope Jon comes down off his high horse and understands that without Richie, Bon Jovi will disappear, not to mention that Jon is losing his best friend. Pride goeth before a fall, Jon. Knock it off and patch things up and quit robbing us of some great Bon Jovi music, although I could just as easily listen to Richie from now on. It's a hell of a friend who will take a back seat to his friend when he is easily just as talented. Just saying.
