“The feelings that hurt most, the emotions that sting most, are those that are absurd - The longing for impossible things, precisely because they are impossible; nostalgia for what never was; the desire for what could have been; regret over not being someone else; dissatisfaction with the world’s existence. All these half-tones of the soul’s consciousness create in us a painful landscape, an eternal sunset of what we are.” ― Fernando Pessoa

Darkness, Darkness. Darkness, DarknessBe my pillowTake my headAnd let me sleepIn the coolness of your shadowIn the silence of your deepDarkness, DarknessHide my yearningFor the things I cannot beKeep my mind from constant turningToward the things I cannot see nowThings I cannot see nowThings I cannot seeDarkness, darkness,Long and lonesome,Ease the day that brings me pain.I have felt the edge of sadness,I have known the depth of fear.Darkness, darkness, be my blanket,Cover me with the endless night,Take away, take away the pain of knowing,Fill the emptiness of right now,Emptiness of right now, now, nowEmptiness of right now.Darkness, darkness, be my pillow,Take my hand, and let me sleep. In the coolness of your shadow,In the silence, the silence of your deep.Darkness, darkness, be my blanket,Cover me with the endless night,Take away, take away the pain of knowingFill the emptiness of right now,Emptiness of right now now nowEmptiness of right....Oh yeah Oh yeahEmptiness, emptinessOh yeah

I have not heard Richie for a long time and listening to him right now, I ask myself why would I deny myself the joy of hearing him sing. He has always moved me; he has a special something that I am going to once again enjoy more often. Happy to have found this site.

What a wonderful voice, so haunting in some of his work....I especially love a song that Richie wrote titled "Back to My Roots" Its featured in his CD "Back To Love." The music world lost more than they will ever know when Richie left this world to go to another world.

Best cover I've heard. Richie does it justice even if some of the lyrics are wrong. He's got the right delivery, emotion and vocal chops to pull it off and make it his own. Really like the reggae feel alot. RIP, Richie and thank you for this soulful, true and respectful rendition of this all-time classic. All-time classic, just like you.
