Not bad (for Dickie Tucker): Ch'ella mi creda, live from New York 1962. After all, Tucker was still by far the best of those Met singers dear to a certain part of the American audience: Milanov, Warren and Peerce who were all equally terrible.

A me sembra un pò ingolato, si sente bene nelle vocali "o" e "a", naturalmente nelle note di centro. Forse perché non aveva l'italiano (non il dialetto) come lingua madre.

Vienna is a very conservative house, and Germany has far more opera houses than the entire US, how do you know what is happening there. If you want to judge a staging, you have to see it from beginning to end, not just a photograph or two. Anyway, "modern or old-fashioned" is irrelevant, the only thing that counts is "good or bad".

Yes he sang 30 years all over the world with success from Italian critics and singers like Lauri Volpi and Teabaldi favored him. Many times he sang Piano like just before Solenne the duet in Forza when the tenor is wounded and in the 40's in Mozart live at the emt. Cosi and Flute. Also he got the Commendatore medal in Italy, good reviews in many cities. The Met. does less modern productions then say Vienna or Germany. One production there had men singing while seated on toilets. That's terrible

I have find when I hear a singer even on live brdcst. and then in the same thing in house, the singer can sound much better in the same opera I had just heard on radio, cannot tell much as far as how they sound in house and how big the sound is or the squillo as well on radio. I would rather hear someone in house before making a positive opinion as I have been proved wrong , as with Frank Lepardo, heard him in Eugene Onegin a few years ago after the radio. Same thing with MDM, in house Great!
