Crate Diggers profiles people with extraordinary vinyl record collections, with owners displaying and telling the stories behind their collections.

DJ Rich Medina takes us through his vinyl record collection of 30,000 discs, and that's not including the 20,000 he has at his mom's house. He shows off the first record he bought, his most valuable record, and gives tips on how to be a great DJ.

So much wisdom in this interview. I've seen a lot of these, from Dupri's (God help us) to Dilla's posthumous. But this dude I like the best.

Music is completely "recession proof". Interesting quote. I wish it would apply just as closely to the act of professional DJing.

i got goose bumps with the half burger story....thats REAL talk right there. you get the jams, THEN worry about paying for other shit. THATS the essence of vinyl addiction....buy the stuff, tough it out, then hey I still have these records and a new payday has rolled around, I made it, lets go DIG!

I like how on every crate diggers video, something like "I got probably ___ records, and probably ____ at my Mom's" has been said. Dj's just love their moms.

Did that piece end prematurely? Now I'm racking my brain to remember the name of the other record shop in Elizabeth NJ...down and on the other side of the street (goin toward the train station). Both that shop (whatever the name of it was) and Vogel's got lot of my money! I didn't get that huge collection RM or Spinna got...but I have a few nice bits and pieces.

its not all about the money but u get my point. there are millions and million and millions of records all over this planet. that why they call it diggin in the crates. peace. try to stay away from the major outlets, they are in it for profit. u must go to the mom and pop local shops/pools to find the best stuff.

any true crate diggers knows that all the high priced/classic albums that people try selling for lots of money, CAN BE FOUND FOR NEARLY FREE at underground record pools all across the world. ive bought record collections from people that lose their intrest in record collectiong for a few dollars and found records i could resell to certain people certain places for hundreds of dollars. i found a signed ll cool j radio record signed by rick rubin for 50c and i sold it on e bay for 300$
