rich kids on Revolver in 1978 with Ghosts of Princes in Towers. Introduction by late great Peter Cook

lyrics

Ain't it fascinating the difference between those who have

You know there's those who make it and there's those who never may

And it's fascinating because it's really very clear

You've either got it honey

Or you ain't...

Well you go and you tell me your ambitions

But then you say Rome wasn't built in a day

But Thomas the Imposter he lived a lie

It didn't matter at all that was his way...

Ghosts of Princes in Towers

They're the soft boys and how

Ghosts of Princes in Towers

They're the sharp ones - they're now...

So these Ghosts, these Princes in Towers

Seems to me they've got it made

'Cos they sulk and they strut for no reason

Well maybe they ain't afraid...

Ghosts of Princes in Towers

They're the soft boys and how

Ghosts of Princes in Towers

They're the sharp ones - they're now...

And it's ONE - remember number one

TWO well it's true

That THREE so free and easy that

Be FOUR too long you come back to this...

Just a'singing 'bout

Ghosts of Princes in Towers

They're the soft boys and how

Ghosts of Princes in Towers

They're the sharp ones - they're now...

Ghosts of Princes in Towers

They're the sharp ones - they're now...

Bloody hell, that's fab. almost forgot about this one. Peter Cook, he was a punk long before it was ever thought about, wasn't he?

..... thanks for posting this - what an amazing performance of a classic (but criminally ignored) song by a great (but criminally ignored) band !! ...... the best stuff that Ure & Matlock ever produced, IMHO .....

In light of what the Sex Pistols became after he was kicked out, this is a glorious redemption for Glen Matlock. How can you not love this song? Beautifully played powerful melodic punky rock at its best. IMO it's the go to version of this song with more excitement and emotion than the single version. If you want even a punkier Rich Kids check out their 4 Peel songs from 1977 posted by vibracobraXXIII.

Saw them live in 78 at the Nashville Rooms in London, they were fantastic live !!! Met Midge a few times and he was a real great guy with no pretentions. His tie up with Glen Matlock of the Pistols to form the Rich Kids was a master stroke and yes this band really should have been huge, but they were ignored as it was felt they were selling out! God we were naive in those days! GL

For some strange reason, Youtube doesn't have much on the real Rich Kids(pay no attention to that other malarkey under the same name). this is one of the Top 10 most underrated bands in history, in my opinion. Their hearts were originally in the right place in my opinion. If anybody has more stuff, please post it.
