The Fire from the Rheostatics record Night Of The Shooting Stars. 2001. Not much is heard from the later years of the Rheos, but here is a jem buried in their Night Of The Shooting Stars record on track 8. They opened with this tune when they came through Halifax on the tour, and everyone went silent. I have never seen a band command a crowd's attention like that right off the bat, and probably never will again ... not like that anyway. Ok, lets not speak of this band again :) Some shots around the house, and the province.

This music film was shot, edited, and produced by me.

@pjzs haha.. they actually played Claire this morning in fact! ;o) You must have missed their one hour exposé on Harmelodia which was quite brilliant.. they dissected & analysed each song, which made me buy the album.. i would have bought it eventually anyway, but this made me acquire it all the faster in its limited ed. book format. I also remember a brief review of the Group of 7 tribute ~ can't remember who did it though, was a while back.

@sirGiedion Agreed. But, what bugs me is that when I hear The Rheos being played on CBC Radio 2, all I hear is Claire. It’s now been about 3 or 4 times I’ve heard that song proceeded by something along the lines of “this band has some brilliant songs”. We’ll, if that’s the case, let’s hear them then. They don’t seem to think the Rheos existed past 1995. Anyway, its good to hear something from later in the repertoire sometimes :) Thanks for the comment.

ah good ol'Canadiana rock.. but i'm not sure about the 'not much is heard' comment.. they always found their way onto CBC Radio at one point or another or maybe i was just tuning in at the opportune times... although i admit this particular album is the least played from my Rheo repertoire. but their later stuff particularly their last album 2067 was absolutely brilliant and rivals their best works from the early 90s.
