By the '60s, Rex Allen had re-signed with Mercury Records, which led to several minor hits and one major success -- 1962's "Don't Go Near the Indians," which returned the singer to the country Top Ten and the pop Top 20.

Great song with overtones of incest. Ground breaking for the 60's. How dumb was the kid anyway?

On this day in 1962 {September 15th) "Don't Go Near the Indians" by Rex Allen entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #17 and spent 8 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #4 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart... In 1953 his version of "Crying In The Chapel" also reached #4 on the Country chart {#8 on the Top 100}... LMAO. You can't even spell the word! I'm sure that it's the white mans fault though! "racist".

Unfortunately, this baby wouldn't get any "airplay" today! However, if the lyric was changed to "don't go near the middle class infidels" no one would bat an eye.
