Beaux Guerin wasn't trashing this song or any of the music genres- he was commenting that people often define themselves by the music they listen to, and in order to 'fit in' it's often an unspoken rule that you have to look the part. The fact is, you wouldn't see the Misfits in khakis and saddle oxfords, and neither would any of their fans. You don't see country acts in black with painted faces and chains draped all over themselves- and you'd be taking your life in your own hands if you showed up at a country show dressed like that. The point is that the music is the message, and you don't have to 'dress the part' to enjoy a particular genre- but peer pressure makes it almost impossible not to stand out. The paradox is you're not a rebel if you look like everyone else.

Yes, WHO - exactly- appointed BEAUX GUERIN (by the way, BEAUX is the plural French form of the word HANDSOME - or Beautiful, lol) to be the ASSASSIN of this particular song, or the musical genre of Rockabilly ??? NOBODY who is significant in this huge, wonderful world. IF you don't like it, don't listen to it....and IF you DO like it, as I do ...then revel in the heart-pumping beat and terrifically zany lyrics. I REST MY CASE, lol. Enjoy it, my friends, and have fun with it, too. MUSIC is meant to be fun and entertaining.

Love Reverend Horton Heat but as Rockabilly has had a semi-revival it's fallen into the death spiral of copy and paste repetitiveness. The Reverend and other bands have managed to keep a unique stamp on their music and remain relevant but most just reproduce that "trying to sound like Elvis" thing and wear wingtips and cuffed jeans with a work shirt and grease their hair up. The charm of Rockabilly music is getting lost in this gimmick. Seriously, if you're a woman and you like rockabilly, it is not a requirement that you look like Betty Page so stop it. It's become comic-con for hipsters. Everybody dress up and rock a pompadour! Same goes for death metal guys, black band tee, long hair, etc. Seems like nowadays people have to define themselves by picking one particular type of music and dressing in the appropriate costume for their genre. Be unique by blending in. That handlebar mustache isn't so unique when every other guy that came to this bar to see the indy bands also have one. Or that gansta XXXL shirt. Or those wranglers and cowboy hat. It goes on and on and on.

technically death metal is only another subgenre of heavy metal whereas rockabilly is a broader subgenre of rock n roll, therefore this isn't an even comparison. Maybe if Heat used the subgenre of punkabilly he claims to represent then it'd be more even.

Actually black metal guys are the ones eating the brains and all.

I think it should be called black metal guys instead.

The rev has shared the stage with Pantera and opened for white zombie and collaborated with Al Jorgensen. I don't think there is any hate in their hearts for death metal.

Aside from loving rockabilly I also love death metal, and take no offense whatsoever to this. In fact, I think it's hilarious, because I actually GET the references. People who take themselves too seriously must lead frustrating lives.
