This song wasn't a hit due to legal issues regarding which record company should release the song. By the time the legal battles had been resolved, radio had lost interest, the public had forgotten about it, and thus it never made the Top 40 chart in the UK.

Loved this the first time I heard it, then only half remembered it (as you do) and love it again. Won`t forget this time. promise.

Interesting song. This served of inspiration for Johnny Marr to compose the piano part of "A rush and a push and the land we stand on is ours" from the album "Strangeways here we come" of the Smiths.

Pure nostalgia, and I've still got the single with nothing to play it on!

I remember this well back in the day: here in Fresno on KFRE, Mike Webb, Sam Schwann, Ross Mitchell (Yes, the same one from Art Bell's Coast to Coast), and Dan Clark all D J's , would play the fool out of this almost twice a day for the three months it was on the air. Like I said before- Great song that kinda "Stuck in my head" for 40 years. Mike in Fresno, Ca.

I remember the tambourine- This is the original version the same one that KFRE 940 AM used to play from July to about September of 1975. Don't know why it nosedived so quick from popularity, I thought it was one of the best songs out there at the time. This is the first time hearing it since 1975- Tonight on YouTube. And it's just like yesterday! Thank you Lime Popsicle from the bottom of my heart for this precious gem. Mike in Fresno, Ca.

Funny thing is it was written by an American, Eric Beam, for his band Felix Harp, in Pittsburgh PA in 1975. I don't think he's realized a penny of royalties for it to date.

Brilliant, this should have been much more successful. I can't remember hearing that tambourine that you hear at the end. A slightly different version, perhaps?

brilliant gem, one of the first singles I bought - strange, unclassifiable genre though, not exactly pop but so catchy nevertheless, a Top 10 hit in South Africa early 1976. THANKS for posting

Although Reparata is a New Yorker this song sounds like it could've been a Greek or Israel entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Incredible that this should reach such a lowly chart position. I still have it in my vinyl singles collection.
