Gary's moves from 4:50 to 5:00 encapsulate why he was so popular, and so vital to the band...

true, seen them 5 times, only once after gary left. Nobody talks with their guitar the way gary does.

@kessellloyd1 i agree with you, I would say the music of the 70's and 80's!!!, if you look closely at the statistics of this video, is most watching in the 5 continents!!!, in almost every country in the world and is something because I am very happy!!!

"Like you do "is still great in 2012. Such talent is hard to duplicate. The video quality of the time doesn't give the song the justice it deserves. That was vintage rock 'n roll. I was in college and this jock next door get playing the sound over and over. I didn't know at the time that it was REO but I fell in love with the song and remembered the words till this day. Just great stuff that rapp doesn't get. The 70's produced some of the best music ever!

Was A Huge Fan Of REO "Back In The Day"...Great Live Band...Sadly, Like So Many Other Bands Of That Era, Commercial Success Affected Their Sound & They Truly Lost Their Edge With The Dismissal Of Gary Richrath.....

Nashville, Tennessee 1976: After the crowd was told that J. Geils would not show I was about as close as I ever want to be from being in the middle of a riot. They never heard the nerdy dude that was sent out to inform them that a "substitute band" would play instead. It was a great moment when the little guy said, " Please welcome REO SPEEDWAGON" For a second, you could have heard a pin drop. LOL Oh. yeah, they opened with THIS song. Damn I'm OLD!

Damn! This song build into its climax at 4:55 in a way that very few songs can match!

@tonylf3rd I was there too! Remember it like it was yesterday. I remember Kevin coming onstage to give Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart a dozen roses. Foghat, Blue Oyster Cult were also there.
