Your sister has most of the story right....it was written by Gary...but its the keyboardist Neil Doughty...who was kicked to the curb.lol...which spawned a depression...he almost never recovered from!!...Trust me on this one!!.lol..i have chilled with this remarkable band...many times!!..all of them are cooler...than the other side of the pillow!! lol

Love this song and most of the others by REO spedwagon! I was probably like 9 or 10 when i first started listening to these guys of coarse i was annoyed by it then and begged my mom and grandma to change the cd lol but now i love hearing them... brings back so many memories!

This is the first song I've heard in my neighbor since i was a kid and ask him if who's the one who sing this song. I started to like them and i don't believe that they have a lot of hits songs.

My god there some great American rock bands in the early 1980s. Foreigner, Styx,Asia,Journey and of course REO Speedwagon!!! Still get a great buzz listenin to the Hi Infidelity album!

Im the youngest of 8 kids, my 2nd oldest sister was 18yrs old when that song came out, she was in love with Reo speedwagon, she said that this song is based on a true story about the guitar players girlfriend who dumped him through a letter, whether its true or not who knows
