"Renegade" is a 1979 hit song recorded by the American rock band Styx. It was on their Pieces of Eight album. It reached #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the spring of 1979. The song is a first-person narrative of an outlaw, captured for a bounty, who recognizes that he is about to be executed for his criminal activities. The execution will be by hanging, as the outlaw laments, "Hangman is coming down from the gallows and I don't have very long." Some pressings of the single were made with translucent, red vinyl. Years after its release it remains a staple on classic rock radio playlists. Preformed at the canal concert series in Lockport New York 2011

@ForceMaximus84 I saw Styx on the Paradise Theatre tour - they were great, but I saw Styx at Red Rocks last year and they are WAY better live now than they ever were before. That time with Dennis was great, but it is better left in the past.

Dennis doesn't work well without Tommy and Styx are nothing without Dennis. They need to shut up and tour TOGETHER!!!

lounge act version? 2:12 case in point. I'm sure Dennis fans are glad to have this included live, but nobody does it like Styx. And Pieces of Eight came out in 1978, although yes the song was on the charts in '79.

I think the Dennis DeYoung versions are better overall than what is left of Styx. Would prefer to see them all together, but Dennis has a great group.

I gotta agree. Seen Styx the last 2 years in INDY, great shows even without Dennis. Gotta have Tommy & J Y to make it Styx
