Will miss her on the Met Opera roster for the 2015-2016 season she is appearing in a Broadway Show about an opera singer.

Robert Palmer, you may be in a minority but it isn't a minority of one. It IS way tooslow, especially at the beginning. There are many better versions, including byRenee Fleming herself. Her fans, sadly, seem to be as blindly uncritical as those ofPavarotti or Callas. She can be superb, but she can indeed be mannered andself-indulgent.

I know I'm in the minority but this sounds to me very self indulgent and must be the slowest performance on record of this work. I listened to several other versions and find the Schwarzkopf 1952 broadcast incredible. She soars heavenward to ecstatic heights like no other artist. You're in for a treat if you hear it.

Fleming is particularly affecting here. Korngold's genius is showcased in this deathless aria in which music and lyric form a perfect union. Bravo indeed!

a perfect pairing. Each of her you tube versions are lovely and in person, she was paradise. I cried though the whole performance.

Fleming can be mannered in German as well; listen to her Madelin in the Capriccio. The voice is so beautiful that I want to yell at her to just sing sing and forget all that jazz crap and pop you have sung. I am hoping that the Capriccio from the Met will be an improvement over her earlier Paris Opera production.

Fleming can be (not always is) almost unbearably mannered in the Italian repertoire (which is what she gets stick for), but when singing Korngold, Strauss and to a degree Mozart, she is simply stunningly, stunningly beautiful. Her Korngold and Strauss especially are amazing. Beautiful. Perfect. Really outstanding.

She takes a lot of negative criticism for some reason, but I only hear how truly beautiful her voice is. I think Korngold would have tears of joy hearing how she caresses his music.

Mhm. Lately it sounds as though she were really tired. You sometimes get the feeling her chords don't want to close all the way...
