Long before EMI was made, Jonathon Richmond, from Boston wrote this song, hence references to Rte. 128 and the Stop 'n' Shop. His band was the Modern Lovers, who also had a great song called Nobody Called Pablo Picasso an Asshole. This is undoubtedly R.E.M. They played this frequently in their early days, because it's ridiculously easy. Like two-chord Velvets songs. But really, Jonathon Richmond could have sued the crap out of Sex Pistols if they'd had any money, now that you mention it.
