Never seen this video. I love this song, there is something sensual in it.. you can find this sensuality in many REM songs.

Whenever I hear this song, I cant help but think of when George Carlin first appeared on the Bill Maher show in '01.

Why is it that Christianity seems to be only about hating gays and putting women 'in their place"? I'm tired of hearing from American Christians who think Jesus came to kill the gays or rip the shoes off of women so they can stay home and make meals.I was raised Christian. I don't believe in God now and I'm not sure I ever did. I remember lessons from the pulpit being about how to love, cherish and support your neighbor. I remember the scriptures being taught about love, acceptance, etc.; the beatitudes.Every time the issue of sin in others came up, I was told a lessen about love, acceptance and encouragement.I was never told I had some violent mission to rid the world of the gays. I was never told a woman is 'less than.' R.E.M. - New Test Leper (Official Video)

The song was inspired by Stipe watching something like Jerry Springer, I believe..

There's a simpler, live in the studio version that is just as good - it was a B-side to another single from the album, "Bittersweet Me". I have both versions in my REM playlist. This is a great song!

Did you even hear Accelerate or Collapse Into Now? Those albums were fantastic, and they decided to leave on a positive note. They didn't break up because they were sick of their music.

Why? So they can continue to spew out shitty albums full of what would have been filler material or just outtakes from the time of Fables to the time of New Adventures? The band realized (several albums too late, but give 'em credit nonetheless) that their material was getting weaker and weaker. You apparently haven't.

Though they do have a Vevo page (Its where all of their stuff from their IRS records years are on)
