Rare early live version of 'Kohoutek' played on 26 September 1984, well before its release. This was always one of my favourite songs from the 'Fables' album.

Is it me, or does Michael's voice sound much deeper these days? I'm not dogging this version or his voice at all, but this sounds like Michael singing after sucking a little helium.

Possibly my favourite R.E.M song. Saw them live back in 1985 playing a lot of the fables album. This song gets me deep. Reminds me of my first love (ha!) and my parents divorce which happened at the same time.

i love this song more on the album "Fables of the reconstruction" version, i listened to that album in 2000 and it reminds me nice things, above all this song! Thanks to have posted it

Punchier sound than on the album. REM was in great form during the Fables tour. THis song and the others off of Fables are incredible live: Life and How to Live it, Auctioneer,Can't Get There From Here, Driver 8 etc. Funny how it is considered their "moody" album, but the tour was anything but.

Michael lost his mind well before the millions came in. And thank God for that.
