In my opinion, the singer is someone trying to escape from a problem, while the person he's asking for help from is suffering an abusive relationship/situation. He's constantly asking for help without asking what's wrong with the person he's asking. The ending lines imply the other person commit suicide and him realizing what he did wrong and lamenting that he couldn't help the other person.
