This is an outstanding version of Bix Beiderbecke's "In a Mist ("Bixology")", recorded 1933 - with Red Norvo (marimba), Benny Goodman (bass clarinet), Dick McDonough (guitar) and Artie Bernstein (bass)Especially with the recording of "Dance of the octopus" they created ", during the same day (?) "chamber jazz", to my understanding. The recordings were made at Brunswick studios. The recording director, Jack Kapp went bananas when he heard the results and tore up Norvo's contract. Nevertheless did the recodrings last - and can be listened to as one of the greatest achievements in the history of jazz.

Very modern version of the classic composition of the legendary Bix Beiderbecke (1903 - 1931). I like this.

what a great session - one Chicago jazz-man playing the composition of another Chicago jazz-great. recorded in the middle of the night to avoid censorship from the producer. unfortunately, Norvo lost his Brunswick recording contract for that stunt - but only temporarily. he re-joined Brunswick for a long run with his band after a couple years.
