This is from around 1989/1990 & is from the BBC show 'Rough Guide to LA'. Anthony Kiedis is interviewed regarding drug addiction, with some clips of videos & other info re: this topic. I have been sorting out my videos & this was tucked away on one.

Although I think that The Chili Peppers last good record was Uplift Mofo Party Plan. Heard you do it live in Chicago at Club Metro. Big tittied blonde stripper wearing only chaps on stage with you as you finished with Back In Black.

Addiction is not a disease. Addiction is series of choices. Ask a neuroscientist.

Kiedis is a fvcking hypocrite. Anthony sh!t all over Jack Sherman during the recording of their first album and its subsequent tour because Sherman wasn't into drugs and had a healthy lifestyle consisting of eating a vegetarian, macrobiotic diet. Kiedis and Flea verbally and physically abused Sherman, tormenting him mercilessly during their grueling first tour (60 shows in 64 days), and then promptly canned him when their junkie buddy Hillel Slovak decided he wanted to be back in the band because he realized RHCP had developed more potential then his failed band What Is This? They then stole all of the music Sherman wrote which became Freaky Styley and never paid him a cent until he sued them 7 years later (unfortunately after the statute of limitations had run out). Sherman was an positive artist and idealist who believed in music as a means for bringing people together, while Kiedis was all about his ego and a paycheck. He talks about love and positivity but its all BS. He is a narcissist and a sociopath.

I hate seeing all these ignorant fucks in the comment section acting like they know a thing or two about heroin or saying he's high in this interview. If you have no experience personally do not post anything because you look/sound painfully stupid. And addiction is a disease. As addicts we may have the key to our own shackles and that makes it different from other physical diseases like cancer, but it is easier said than done. I hope anyone else struggling or in recovery finds their peace of mind.

The supposition of this piece, that around 1990, there was a trend of rock bands getting clean is utter nonsense.  The 90s was literally filled with heroin overdoses/deaths among rock artists.  Indeed, it was unparalleled.

That mentality died quick...the whole band except Chad was consuming drugs for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
