This is a great` rare and first class respect to minor theat's ian mackaye. "Threat" was such a good band.NNNNot AAALLL, Chilli Peppers stuff is "comercialized" (if u will). Anthony Kleidis wrote and sings some really great original stuff. You have to see them at a small venue or a private party. im tellin you.

If one kid from this crowd went and picked up a copy of 13 Songs, the Chili Peppers performed a job well done. Love Fugazi and I don't care if you think this cover "sucked" because more people have heard of a great band that may otherwise get lost in time.

problem is covers are only interesting when a band reimagines a song in a different way, and doing it with a band as--should I say?--iconic (if that's the right word) as Fugazi. Ian's voice is so inimitable and such a part of all the songs he sings, it's almost like what's the point of even covering his songs? Secondly, as with all good punk, the production value of the original recording and/or live bootlegs is absolutely essential; redoing Minor Threat's "Discography" on modern equipment and recording practices changes it massively, especially when you consider that the more bare bones a song is, the more the "stylistic" little things matter. For context: I'm a huge Fugazi/Minor Threat fan, but still love the Peppers and think they are really underrated by the "people" who consider themselves "serious music fans."

Fugazi and Anthony and Flea are longtime friends. Ian and Joe have worked with John and usually when RHCP come to DC they have dinner with Ian. Fugazi are not close minded like some of their fans might be.
