lol the fact that anyone would be dissing red hot chili peppers for doing a cover of Jimi is beyond me. They did really well in my opinion. Prefer the original but that's to be expected. I love the fact that they would pay tribute to Jimi by playing this song. Lets people know one of the places they draw influence from. It's not like they didn't have any of their own songs to play. Some bands have made it big by doing a cover. Not the chili peppers though.

Gotta disagree with you on this one man. Under the Bridge and Castles Made of Sand are both deeply introspective songs (Hendrix builds metaphors about his troubled family life while Kiedis talks about his spiritual relationship with LA) and the guitar melodies defining the tunes are both built on the use of thumb-shaped voicings, to build chord based melodies. Looks like you're a guitar player yourself, so you'll know what I'm talking about

Actually there is lots of videos of John saying that the rhythm is pretty much the hendrix rhythm pattern, of course John is heavily influenced by Hendrix, I don't think it's inspired on Castles Made of Sand but the guitar playing, so the guy is not entirely wrong
