I saw a documentary about a family in Africa that saved up for years to buy a bicycle and once they had it their lives were much easier. The first thing that went through my head was, "How could I forget to mention the bicycle is a good invention."

bicycles are very popular in Amsterdam. Tourists often get high and rent bicycles to go around. Maybe he did that too and the song reminds him that.

It's crazy to think back to what I was doing in 2002 when this album was released. I was only 11 years old and I was only vaguely aware that RHCP existed. It's weird knowing I grew up alongside songs like this; like they existed, and I may never have known. Now as a man I'm a huge fan of the band and I'm discovering all of this amazing music. I'm glad I discovered it at an age when I'm finding myself and need it the most.
