Lyrics:

I should've seen all the signs all around me

But I was comfortable inside these wounds

So go ahead and take another piece of me now

While we all bow down to you

You tear me down and then you pick me up

You take it all and still it's not enough

You try to tell me you can heal me

But I'm still bleeding

And you will be the death of me

How can you help my affliction

If you're the sickness and im the cure

Too long I've faked this addiction

Another sacrifice to make us pure

You tear me down and then you pick me up

You take it all and still it's not enough

You try to tell me you can heal me

But I'm still bleeding

And you will be the death of me

You tear me down and then you pick me up

You take it all and still it's not enough

You try to tell me you can heal me

But I'm still bleeding

And you will be the death of me

I won't forget

I cannot forget this

I won't forget

I'll never forget this (4x)

I know I can never prove this illusion

You aren't the one that I thought you were

And so I learned to embrace this delusion

The line that separates us starts to blur

You tear me down and then you pick me up

You take it all and still it's not enough

You try to tell me you can heal me

But I'm still bleeding

And you will be the death of me

And you will be the death of me

I won't forget

I cannot forget this

And you will be the death of me

In my opinion, this song is about trying to rid yourself from your darker self. Whether your darker self is influenced by satan, an ex or anyone by that matter. This song can be interpreted differently by individuals; this is why I loooove Red!!

@hurricanev6 No, because Christianity does not promise happiness in this life. Ever heard of the early Christian martyrs? They had a pretty tough time. The guy is saying how the object of his song promises him happiness, but ruins him instead.

@hurricanev6 It could also be talking to satan, because satan promises things to us but in the end, it only hurts us if we listen.

@scott74h is it just me, or can the lyrics be taken the other way? i mean, i know that your analysis of the lyrics is right, but if you listen to it as a conversation from the singer to God, it can also be construed as a pretty powerful anti-Christianity message.
