To be fair, the version the Beatles put out is quite a butchering of the original demo tape. The unadorned performance Lennon gave was sped up and pitch-shifted and messed around with and pretty much ruined IMO. If you can find the original performance it's lots better, even though it's obviously also a work in progress.

They're both great, but I hear ya. She made it her own. That's what great musicians do when they cover other musicians. She has the ability to sing anything - ANYTHING - with such raw emotional power, you'd swear she wrote it herself. Such a great singer.
