Is funny you'd say that because, for some reason, whenever I hear Is This It, this massive feeling of nostalgia just hits me in the face. It doesn't make any sense, since I got into The Strokes about a year ago when they released UCoD, but songs like Hard to Explain, Is This It, and Someday just scream nostalgia for me....

@catvoca I suppose that's almost the fault of the album itself in a way - it was the platform for the rediscovery of rock music for so many people, and the current trend among loosely 'indie rock' bands tends towards the surf/chillin' sound. It was the Strokes that allowed bands to come back round to that point, in many ways. They're so central to the entire genre and/or scene that the most different artist on the tape - Heems - basically just recorded an entirely new track.

Some of these covers are good but they make all the songs sort of slower and more depressing. Is this it is an upbeat album full of raw emotion I feel like a lot of the covers don't quite get that across
