Yes. Dougie MacLean wrote this song. Dougie writes a lot of wonderful lyrics and this song has its share.

. . . and I'm rarely ready for exquisiteness in song . . but this one comes sweeping in. That high-pitched wail takes me out to sea and back . . . brings sobriety and confidence. Thanks, Dougie . . . Rich.

Dougie MacLean wrote this song, actually. Rich did not record many songs by other artists, but this is one of the few, because it is so exquisite!

This is a Dougie MacLean song; Mullins covered, but did not write it. Did a great job, though, a bit faster.

Thank you Beckster. Spelling? Never you mind. "Lighning" just needs a "t". But hey, I'm from South Carolina, and some of us actually say it like that: "Ly-ning" :) In the end, we're all Galileans, speaking truth with rough edges. God bless

Seriously, this is a very beautiful song, with a good message and all I see is bickering. The truth is, there is one Holy Father and that is GOD. The Holy Trinity. No man on earth should be called holy father, for that is so very wrong. Jesus said not to call any man Father. The catholic church is basically a pagan religion, started by Constatine, who BTW was the first "pope",. He supposedly had a dream to conquer under the sign of the cross, but there is a thought that it really was an ankh. Catholism uses Christian trappings but the basic premise is still pagan. The worship of men, the abomination (See Jeremiah, I believe) of the Queen of Heaven, worshipping dead "saints", the "praying of the rosary", etc. If those who are in the catholic church would prayerfully read the Holy Bible, and I don't mean the apocrypha, but the Gospels, the Letters of Paul, Peter, and John, you would see that much that is done in Christ's name in the unholy catholic church is wrong. I am not saying that everything done in the protestant churches are all spot on, but we are allowed to search the Scriptures to prove what a man behind the pulpit says is true or not. Even the Apostle Paul commended the Berean believers for doing this to prove that what he said jived with Scriptures. I am sorry that I got embroiled in this contreversy. I expected to see a lot of comments on how this song uplifted those who were commented on it, but sadly that is not the case. Just forget about the differences of beliefs and listen to how Rich describes how God comes and helps us during our storms in life. If it were not Christ being with us during those storms, we would be cast adrift and forever lost.

I'm not even a Christian or anything but, shoot me in the face, I like this cover better than the original for some reason, in spite of the religiously-motivated lyrical changes.

Did I spell something wrong?

it's sad when someone makes a music video and doesn't spell correctly.
