I'm glad someone actually gets the meaning of this song rather than thinking it is about dancing, sort of like DEVO's Whip It, alot of people think it is about masterbation.

"The politicians are now DJs". When I first heard that lyric back in '83 I thought of the usual dance/freedom/music metaphor so prevalent back then (i.e. the movie "Footloose", etc.), but now it almost sounds like a prescient reference to the likes of Rush Limbaugh (a former DJ who's now perhaps the most powerful political pundit today) and talk radio in general.
