i know that bobb babbit was responsible for this perfect piece off bassplaying but ive found an oldie but goodie video with another bassplayer on the exact same track so could you please tell me who this is i dont think he is some kind of stand-in....or body double(would be kinda strange cos bobb babbit doesnt hav a coloured skin...:))...anyway...maybe this could be James Jamerson who was also a Funk Brothers member, cos according to some pics ive found this could be the guy....but also seeing him play(ok this isnt a live recording track)but he sure does a good playbacking on his bassguitar....so maybe u could help me out....btw i wish i could do some bassplaying like you do ...hey....maybe you are the missing link in this story....

On this day in 1978 {May 13th} Robert Palmer performed "Every Kinda People" on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'...At the time the song was at #35 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; six weeks later on June 18th, 1978 it would peak at #16 {for 2 weeks} and it spent 18 weeks on the Top 100...It made the Top 10 on the French National Singles chart, where it peaked at #6…Between 1977 and 1991 he had eighteen Top 100 records; five made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Addicted to Love" for one week on April 27th, 1986...He just missed having three #1 records when "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" and "Simply Irresistible" both peaked at #2 on the Top 100...Sadly, Robert Allen Palmer passed away on September 26th, 2003 at the young age of 54...May he R.I.P.

I believe the bassist in this video is the late Bernard Edwards of the band Chic. He and Nile Rodgers, and Tony Thompson were the original members. I believe Tony passed away as well, but the band still tours. One of my friends is the current drummer in Chic..

Robert Palmer. A West Yorkshire lad from Batley and sadly missed. His music will, however, live forever.
