Here is a rare classic: "Southern Air" from the album "Surely You Joust" it was Ray Stevens' twenty-third studio album and his third for MCA Records, and one of my all time favorites.

The album's front cover shows Stevens disguised as a medieval knight with a horse standing next to him. The album's back cover shows Stevens in the same costume but in a junk pile with two junk men.

"Southern Air" (features the great Jerry Clower and the ever loving Minnie Pearl, whom Ray says on the cover are his "good friends"),

I will be posting more of original Ray Stevens songs, so subcribe to keep up to date. Enjoy

Get them cows off the runway! Genius. Another classic by Ray. I may not be a southerner, but I am from Nebraska and can still appreciate this song.

I love being a Southerner (Texan), I love speaking Southern American English (Goggle that), and I feel sorry for those that don't have our sense of humor! And, of course, I love Ray Stevens!

One of my favorite Ray Stevens albums. I remember getting this (my first Ray Stevens BTW) and listening to it on my awesomeSony Walkman cassette player with auto-reverse while I was doing my chores feeding the chickens and goats.

"Box Set" does have re-recordings of his older songs. But there are some new original songs that are pretty funny. You have to do a little research to find out on where you can buy the original's. You can get the original "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" and this album has alot of his original songs on: Legendary Ray Stevens. You can find it on iTunes...

I got burned by his 3-CD "Box Set" a while back. Nothing but lame re-recordings of all his old stuff. Avoid it like the plague.

Absolutely...I would have loved to see Ray, Jerry, and Minnie in a video to this song. Older country fans get all the lyrics that refer to Clower's stories. He and Minnie were wonderful. I also wish Ray and his high school buddy Jerry Reed had recorded together. I met Jerry Reed in the early 1990's and he told me that Ray Stevens was one of the most talented artists he ever met.
